PRESS RELEASESYMM INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS AT HAMBLEDEN 7-9 MAY 2010
No Ordinary Builder, No Ordinary Horse TrialsSymm of Oxford is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Hambleden International Horse Trials. CEO Aidan Mortimer said “We are absolutely delighted to be working with the team at Hambleden on this exciting project. Our reputation as a building firm with a commitment to quality and service we believe makes us a perfect match with an event that prides itself on painstaking attention to detail in terms of ensuring the event is a highly enjoyable experience for all those who attend”. He went on to say that the company hoped to build a relationship that went on for years to come. To that end they would be rolling out a programme of training bursaries with a particular focus on youth development in line with their commitment to their own apprenticeship scheme and their work with The Prince of Wales’s Building Craft Apprenticeship programme. Five bursaries to the value of £750 will be awarded and further details can be found at www.symminternationalhorsetrials.co.uk
Organiser Lisa Hughes commented “I am thrilled that not only has Symm agreed to provide us with such generous support in our first year of international competition, but that they appreciate the need to put something back into the sport. Not only will the training bursaries make a real difference to those competitors lucky enough to be awarded them, but sponsorship means that we are able to take on board the concerns of riders who are struggling in this difficult economic climate. Consequently we are we offering improved prize money, we are able to hold our start fees at the level they have been at for years and we are fortunate enough to be in the position to offer a 100% refund policy. As an organiser I understand the compelling financial reasons that make it difficult to refund competitors, but equally I can see how unjust that must seem to competitors that have a legitimate reason for withdrawing. Thankfully this year we won’t be caught up in that awkward dilemma and will be able to refund all competitors that withdraw with a vet or doctor’s certificate right up to the 6 May. I am certain that this will be very positively received by competitors and will encourage those that haven’t previously travelled to our event, to enter in good time!”
